About the Shop Floor Epoxy Resurfacing
The project began with a thorough cleaning of the walls, ceiling, and interior of the two large metal overhead doors. The team also masked off all lights, door tracks, and electrical outlets. Numerous wood shelves were removed as per the shop owner’s request, and nail holes and drywall damage were repaired before painting began. Two coats of paint were applied to the ceiling, walls, and inside of the bathroom.
The paint used for the walls and ceilings was Sherwin Williams Southwest Builders Solo, an acrylic latex enamel. The high-end garage floor coating chosen for the project was a polyurea material.
The main challenge faced by the team was the extensive drywall repairs needed. Holes ranged from dime-sized to large holes that appeared to have been caused by someone kicking their foot through the wall. Smaller holes were filled with Spackle, while larger holes required cutting out drywall, fitting new pieces, and applying several coats of drywall mud before priming and painting.
The chosen color for the walls and ceilings was Sherwin Williams’ “Pure White,” while the floor coating was finished in a “Tuxedo” color.
