Problem: Epoxy Coating Moisture Build-up & Delamination
Due to the building originally built on an old swamp, there was excessive moisture pressure (hydrostaic pressure) wicking through the pores of the slab. This caused the epoxy coating to bubble and delaminate the epoxy losing adhesion to the cement floor.
Moisture was trapped between the slab and the old epoxy creating a horrible smell and a health issue. Employees would feel nauseous after spending time in the warehouse.
Solution: Specialized Grind, Polish & Dye
The solution was to grind the surface with mechanical grinding/polishing machines. Once the old coating was removed, the polish process commenced. This includes numerous pases over the surface with coarse grinding blades followed by levels of fine polishing pads.
The process including coloring the cement floor with a dark dye manufactured by Ameripolish.
