Non Slip Epoxy Coating Application – Portland Oregon

The scope of work was to prepare and coat the machine shop for a company that makes prototype parts out of aluminum.
The existing floor was in good shape. It was a slab that was about 10 years old that had been coated with clear epoxy at some point.
Scope of Project – There were no problems with the floor other than floor was old and hard to maintain. The Smith & Company team filled all cracks and joints with a polyurea joint filler then ground them flush to make a seamless surface. After installation of the topcoat of epoxy, bubbles appeared along one joint. The contractor sanded them smooth, filled and recoated that area with a small patch.
The client chose to go with a smooth floor after Parker’s team installed a small sample for them. They thought that the smooth floor actually gave them better non-slip traction in comparison to a coating with sand aggregate, which is coated over giving the floor a textured look and feel.
